Veteran singer Shimoga Subbanna asked the parents to desist from choosing the career of their wards and leave the choice to the children. He was the chief guest at the annual day celebrations of KIET Polytechnic at Banashankari. Roopa Iyer, an up-and-coming young film producer and an alumni of the Polytechnic, was the special guest on the occasion. Poverty should not be treated as stumbling block for any student in his or her career, she said. She lauded Principal HKS Shastry for the guidance offered to the students.
HKS Shastry while presiding over the function, traced the development and growth of the institution. Shastry also announced that a 'Vidyanidhi Award’ has been instituted by the Vidya Nidhi Trust, a co-sponsor of KIET Institutions to encourage the poor and meritorious students of the institution.
The annual day celebrations concluded with a colourful entertainment programme choreographed by Susheela, a staffer of the institution. A typical classical dance entitled ‘Kala Sandhya’ was the special, feature of the programme.
