Temple to be renovated
Sri Mahaganapathi Temple, located at Urva Stores in Mangalore, will be renovated at a cost of Rs 1 crore, said the temple renovation committee president and advocate P P Hegde at a press meet. MLA N Yogish Bhat, Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi, Shashidhar Hegde, Jagadish Shetty, Devadas Shenoy, A G Pai and Raj Gopal Rai will be the other office-bearers of the committee. Plans are there to establish a community hall in the temple premises simultaneously, he said.
Philatelic meet tomorrow
The annual general body meeting of Dakshina Kannada Philatelic and Numismatic Association will be held on May 13 at Head Post Office in Pandeshwar between 10.30 am and 12 noon.

Mock exercise on May 28
A mock exercise on the steps to be taken in case of a chemical disaster, under the aegis of Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers Limited, Panambur and Port Complex, will be held on May 28.
The decision was taken at a meeting of District Disaster Committee presided over by Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao, recently.
He directed those concerned to make necessary arrangements and prepare themselves for the mock exercise. Anothor meeting will be held to review the preparations for the exercise on May 15.
The security arrangements made by MCF to avert accidents was explained during the meeting.
SDMA expert Dr B K Kunha, DMI (Bhopal) Director Dr Rakesh Dubey, Bangalore Fire Force division IG Dr Chandrashekhar and District Disaster Committee members participated.
First prize in dance contest
Miss Rashmi K Kundar, a II std student of St Aloysius English Medium Higher Primary School, Lady Hill, has secured the first prize in the ‘Carnival 2007’ dance competition conducted by Empire Mall Owners’ Association recently.
According to a press release, the daughter of Kamalaksha-Bharathi Kundar couple, Ms Rashmi has also bagged prizes in the dance competitions held during ‘Pearls-2007,’ Navakundotsava and similar events, according to a release.
Blood donation on May 13
In commemoration of its silver jubilee year, Ajay Sports Club, Kulai, will organise a blood donation camp at Sri Venkatramana Higher Primary School, Kulai, on May 13.
Informing this at a press meet on Wednesday, Club Secretary Nagesh T said, apart from the blood donation camp, the Club will also felicitate achievers in various fields, senior members of the club and distribute uniforms to the economically backward students.
District-in-Charge Minister B Nagaraj Shetty, Govinda Dasa College (Surathkal) Principal Raj Mohan Rao, Circle Inspector T R Jagannath and others will take part in the events, he added. Lingappa M D, Ganadhar Kulai were present in the press meet.
