A Mumbai court on Friday issued a non-bailable warrant against Hasina Parkar, sister of fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, as she continued to evade police for more than a fortnight.
The magistrate’s court order against Hasina and four others followed a city court’s directive last week asking the police to arrest Hasina by May 16.
The Anti-Extortion Cell of the police had registered a case of cheating and criminal intimidation against her last month on the basis of a complaint by a city-based builder for allegedly demanding ransom from him.
The police have raided her residence several times, but she has been on the run since the case was registered. “Different teams of police are looking for her at various places,” a senior Crime Branch-CID official said on Thursday.
“In case she is not arrested in the next few days or she does not surrender, the police will identify her properties and then commence attachment proceedings by moving a competent court,” police sources said.
