By-elections to GPs on June 3

Shimoga: By-election to the  grama panchayat seats in the district will be held on June 3. Acting on the basis of instruction from the State Election Commission, Deputy Commissioner has released the calender of events for the by-elections.
One seat each is vacant in Anavatti, Hache, Hurali, Mattikote, Kappanahalli, Salur, Arakere, Hiriyur, Mydolalu, Abbalagere, Padavagodu, Marutipura, Basavani and Kudumallige grama panchayats.
Final date
Notification for election was issued on May 16.
The last date for submitting nominations is on May 23 and on May 24 the nomination papers will be scrutinised.
Withdrawal
However, May 26 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature and if need arises, election will be held on June 3.
Counting will be held on June 4 and election process will be completed by June 5.
DC has also informed that counting will be held in the respective taluk head quarters.
More details in this regard is available with the tahshildar, informed a release.
