Progress review meetings with the heads of various departments are held regarding the implementation of work mentioned in the budget. Officials are instructed to implement 75 percent of the work mentioned in the budget by the end of May, informed Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
Speaking at a press meet in the city, he said that loan waiver, ban on lottery and arrack, implementation of 5th pay commission recommendations mentioned in budget will result in Rs 5,950 crore revenue deficit this year.
Revenue and cess collection in the State by April this year stands at Rs 2,058 crore which is Rs 486 crore more compared to last year. Government has evinced interest in providing industrial infrastructure for tier-2 cities, he said.
Process of land acquisition for the proposed airports in Shimoga, Gulbarga, Bijapur and Mysore has begun. State government has released funds for setting up helipads at 20 places in the State, he stated.
Regarding the loan waiver scheme of the State government, DyCM said that 16 lakh ryots families will be directly benefited from the scheme. State exchequer will incur Rs 2,300 crore burden by waiving off loan and interest. However, DyCM ruled out the possibility of extending deadline for re-payment of interest for availing benefit of loan waiver scheme.
