Boy beaten to death
The ugly face of feudal Bihar has reared its head once again with a 13-year-old backward caste boy allegedly being beaten to death by a landed upper caste villager for plucking litchis from his garden, reports IANS from Patna.
Police sources said on Monday that Raj Kumar Sah was mercilessly beaten by Lakhan Mishra in Dwarikanagar village in Muzaffarpur district, about 80 km from here. Raj Kumar was grazing cattle when he plucked a few litchis from Mishra’s garden Saturday, said his father Bikram Sah.
Ganja dispute: Sadhu killed
A 43-year-old ‘Sadhu’, identified as Bhagwandas of Lalitpur (UP), was stabbed to death at local Vedanti temple premises at Sagar (MP), following a dispute over smoking ganja, reports UNI quoting police sources.
Local resident Rajaram Tiwari killed the Sadhu, who was sleeping in the temple’s premises, in the wee hours of Sunday The victim arrived here in connection with a yaga last month.
6 die in road accident
Six people were killed early on Monday when their car was hit by a truck on National Highway No.9 near Osmanabad town in Maharashtra, reports IANS quoting the police.
Six employees of a private company were travelling in a car (AP 16 1001) from Mumbai to Hyderabad when a truck rammed their vehicle at about 4:30 am at Andur village in Tuljapur taluka near Osmanabad.
