DH News Service, Gulbarga:

The Zilla Panchayat administration has made it compulsory for primary school teachers to participate in the four-day long Special National Immunisation Day (SNID) beginning from May 20 to vaccinate all children below the age of five years against polio. The teachers have been asked to be present in their schools on all the four days from May 20 to 23, identify the eligible children and get them vaccinated against the dreaded disease.
Zilla Panchayat  Chief Executive Officer P C Jaffar has also warned of  action against those teachers who fail to attend the schools on the said days.
A preparatory meeting of the Pulse Polio programme was held here recently to chalk out the plan of action to make the drive against polio a success. It was attended among others by the officials of the health and family welfare departments, education, city municipal corporation and block education officers.
The Chief Executive Officer further sought the help and co-operation of all the officials paticularly those of education department in making the national programme a success.
