Man of arts
MOODABIDRI: Tekkatte Krishnayya Acharya, popularly known as T K Acharya, is a man of many talents. He has been teaching art in Jain Junior College in Moodabidri for the last 30 years. As per the advice of his elder brother, he studied art at Chitra Kalashaale, Katapadi, near Udupi.
T K Acharya’s works of art are found in many places of repute and are appreciated widely. For instance, his art work Nanna Radhakrishna, an Indian miniature, was purchased by Dr Veerendra Heggade. It is now exhibited at the Vaishali Guest House in Dharmasthala, which is frequented by VIPs. Similarly, Sri Bhattaraka Swamiji of Jaina Math in Moodabidri has purchased his art work of thousand pillared basadi and another of his art works, Dwarapalaka, is exhibited in various Jaina basadis and temples of the State.
T K Acharya’s beautiful and colourful rangolis are also quite famous. This is not all. This artist is a well-known actor and a director of plays too. Daksha Arakshaka and Mangamaya, his two humourous dramas, are staged many times in school and colleges. He was recently felicitated by the Swamiji of Moodabidri Jain Math for his service to art and teaching.
