Though his Tamil Nadu counterpart has accused Karnataka of harassment in the Cauvery river water sharing issue, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday seemed to be in no mood for confrontation and, instead, urged Mr Karunanidhi to ‘take the lead’ in rendering justice to all riparian states.
“Being an experienced leader, he (Mr Karunanidhi) should not make such remarks...I urge him to take the lead in resolving this issue and help get justice to all riparian states,” he told media persons in Bangalore.
Mr Karunanidhi had stated that both Karnataka and Kerala were harassing Tamil Nadu in the Cauvery issue and also warned that it may lead to a war between the two States.
‘ I am ready’
The chief minister, however, said that he is ready to join hands with his Tamil Nadu counterpart and would extend all cooperation in ensuring justice if Karnataka has really done injustice to its neighbouring state.
“I will co-operate with him for the sake of his state. But he (Mr Kar-unanidhi) should reciprocate and help our state also,” the chief mi-nister explained.
