Mukhosh will treat Bangaloreans, this month, to three days of rich theatre at the Ranga Shankara. The group plans to dispel the assumption that science and theatre are separate in nature. In fact, the crew are scientists from the IISC, Bangalore who started off with performances during the Durga Puja festival and later forayed into professional performances.
The festival aims to reproduce the cultural ambience of Bengal missed by those who have migrated to other parts of the country and give other Indians a taste of Bengal. It hopes to create a common ground for cultural exchange.
The festival kickstarts on May 23 at 11 am with a panel discussion on Globalisation and the Indian Regional Theatre – A Camouflaged Threat? The panel consists of eminent theatre personalities from both Bengaluru and Kolkata. The momentum will continue with the play Daibaddha by the group Sayak at 7.30 pm.
The fest will continue on May 24 with another Sayak feature Dildaar. On May 24, at 7.30 pm two popular plays
Mallabhumi followed by Shoorpanakha will be put up by Mukhosh. The last day, which is May 25, will feature Galpo Hekim Sahab by Sundaram from Kolkata at 11 am and Sajano Bagari by the same group at 7.30 pm.
A booklet will also be released, reflecting the unification of two cultures and the sciences involved in performing arts.Theatre personalities as well as scientists have contributed in this booklet for a well-balanced perspective. It is priced at Rs 20.
Tickets priced at Rs 150 for each show will be available at the Ranga Shankara from May 15.
Telebookings would be confirmed against payment by May 20.
Mukhosh attempts to bring light in the lives of the underprivileged. The proceeds in aid of paraplegic children will be given to the Mathru Foundation, an NGO run by the para-olympian, Padmashree Malathi K Holla.
