A hobby that has grown into a roaring passion, they eat, breath and enjoy music and continue to pay homage to the shrines of musical greats, the range of which knows no boundaries.
Meet Ek, a Bangalore based band - where music transcends boundaries and languages and has united five techies in their passionate pursuit of music.
Shashank on vocals, Avik on bass, Aveer on lead, Prabal on drums and Bharath on keys, all bred on different genres of music, nevertheless have a set out together on this journey to spread their ideas to the masses through their music. The genre of Ek is primarily Hindi rock. The orchestration being western, backed by an eclectic mix of Hindi lyrics and songs sung with a tinge of Indian classical music. Now, the band aims at composing some original music, a blend of energetic riffs and an Indian classical lead, with deep lyrics and a soothing aura.
Humble beginnings in the form of playing covers of Jal , Indian Ocean and A R Rehman compositions has now given way to jamming up their own original compositions .
A regular face in Bangalore Sunday Jams, these guys have picked up quite a fan following with their different feel of rock music . Especially being a Hindi rock band made they stand out in a crowd of heavy metal cacophony. Having received rave responses to their renditions of ‘Vande matharam’ arguably one of the most difficult ones of Rehaman to emulate during one of the jams, this young band is high on energy and confidence, wanting to break out into the Indian rock music scene.
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, is what they believe in and this sweet simplicity steeped in rich tones of Indian classical music, backed by western acoustics stormed their way into the finals of Battle of Bands organised by Bangalore Central becoming one of the six best bands in Bangalore. They have done many shows in Bangalore and also performed as an opening band for Shankar Mahadevan in Hubli.
After long days of hitting hard at their desktop keyboards and breaking their heads over incomprehensible code, these five boys have now followed their hearts calling and turned to music. Backed by high aspirations and conscientious efforts, they are dreaming big and are definitely here to stay.
