Experimental short films
Two short experimental films by Pushpamala N will be shown at Alliance Francaise, Bangalore on 17 May at 7.30 pm. The films Paris Autumn and Rashtriy Kheer and Desiy Salad will be shown, followed by a discussion. Paris Autumn is a existential thriller using a montage of references from French art, film, literature and culture. It is made entirely from still pictures and is a Tribute to Chris Markrer’s “La Jette”. Rashtriy Kheer and Desiy Salad is her first video based on material from family recipe books. It is a playful and ironic look at the modern Indian family.

Poetry recital
Josh-O-Umang, the English-Urdu fortnightly magazine presents the Urdu poet, composer and singer Haamid Baaqari’s Tere Honton Pe, a solo Urdu poetry recital show. This is the fifth show of its kind. Haamid Baaqari’s second book of poetry, “Humsafar” will also be realeased. The show will be held at the Yavanika Auditorium, State Youth Centre, Next to the new RBI Building, Nrupathunga Road,on Saturday, May 19 and will begin at 6:30pm.

Rural art
Magnitude Gallery’s has organised Grameen, art pieces on the rural theme. It is an assortment of spectacular original masterpieces. This refreshing theme befits the holiday season when peope pine to go back to  their native places and experience  the pure village air, without even having to pack your bags.  The art is on display at  140/13, 27th Cross, 13th Main, 3rd Block, Jayanagar.

Metal art exhibition
The Australia High Commission is organizing an exhibition of contemporary metal work, jewellery and holloware curated by the RMIT Gallery, RMIT University, Melbourne from May 18 to June 2 from 10.30 am to 7 pm at Abstract Art Gallery No 8 next to Svisti, Cunningham Road. Contemporary Australian jewellery and holloware is characterised by a uniquely Australian aesthetic that embraces raw as well as recycled materials, innovative design and use of technology and a respectfully playful approach to tradition.
