The Forest department officials arrested two persons on charges of illegally selling sandalwood pieces and recovered 20 kg of such pieces worth Rs 60,000 on Friday.
The accused, Ravi (22) and Kumar (22), were arrested in Majestic area. They were planning to hand over the pieces to Para John (60), a sandalwood smuggler. John is said to be absconding. The accused had chopped off sandalwood trees in Nelamangala. They had chopped some pieces last week and handed them over to John last week, said the officials.
The forest officers are defenitley involved in the smuggling.The Bannerghattta DFO and the ACF are instrumental in the stock piling of sandle wood in the schhol near Bangalore.The lady DFO is in a hurry to make money and has destroyed the name of congress party in Anekal area.She should be taken to task and the ACF must be removed from the position to safeguard the interes to fthe public.
