The Army Institute of Fashion and Design was established in 2004 under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). The institute enrolls not just students from an army background, but takes in individuals from outside the defense community. This is the only fashion institute set up by the army under AWES which also has several other institutes in the areas of Management, Engineering, Dental, Information Technology and Hotel Management. The success of the institute is reflected by the offers that their students receive, by some of the leading names in the fashion industry.
