Twenty one students of the PG Diploma courses received their degree certificates from Major General B Sivasankar. Following the formal ceremony was Design Dapple 2007, a platform which allowed these students to showcase their collection.

Wednesday marked a very eventful evening for the graduting students of the Army Institute of Fashion Designing. Twenty one students of the PG Diploma courses received their degree certificates from Major General B Sivasankar. Following the formal ceremony was Design Dapple 2007, a platform which allowed these students to showcase their collection.
The show was choreographed by leading fashion guru, Prasad Bidapa. Present on the occasion were Subash Tiwari, director of Shashi Exports, K K Namboodiri, chairman and CEO, Kristal Group, Brigadier Clement Samuel, Commander of Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area and the Chairman of AIFD.
Awards were given to the amateur designers in categories like Best Design wear, Best Creative wear and Best Outgoing student. The Best Design wear went to Lata Chauhan and Jury award to Nijo Scaria.
Shreesha P won accolades for Best Creative wear while Rajani Sunil was adjuged the Best Outgoing student.
Most of their designs were fresh and vibrant. The cuts given were new and unique.
While most fashion shows ignore trends in kids’ wear, these designers took care of that as well.
The Army Institute of Fashion and Design was established in 2004 under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). The institute enrolls not just students from an army background, but takes in individuals from outside the defense community.  This is the only fashion institute set up by the army under AWES which also has several other institutes in the areas of Management, Engineering, Dental, Information Technology and Hotel Management.  The success of the institute is reflected by the offers that their students receive, by some of the leading names in the fashion industry.
