MUSIC FROM MALAYSIA

Piano recital
The International Music and Arts Society is presenting Malaysian pianist Sothie-Paul Duraiswamy in a Classical Western Piano recital on May 25 at 7.15 p.m at the Alliance Francaise, Bangalore. Tickets are priced at Rs100 and are available at the Cafe, Alliance Francaise from May 14.
Sothie Paul-Doraiswamy graduated from the Royal College of Music, London, where she studies piano under Angus Morrision and singing under Veronica Mansfield. She furthered heer musical studies at the Koninklijk Conservatorium, The Hague, Holland, where she did the C recital diploma (piano) under Jan de Man.
She has performed widely giving solo performances in the Netheerlands, England, Malaysia, Singapore and on All India Radio in Mumbai and Chennai. She has also been the soloist with the Koninklijk Conservatorium Orchestra of the Hague with Edo de Waard conducting Rachmaninoffs’s variations on a theme by Paganini and with the Orchestra of the Royal College of Music,London among others. Her programme in Bangalore includes Beethoven’s “Pathetique, the Chopin Fantasy in F minor, Debussy and Ravel.
