Almost a year after a baby girl from Bundi in Rajasthan was fed with a safety pin, a screw and a coin allegedly to kill her, police have registered a case against her parents and her grandmother under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
A baby girl born in the family of Rishi Kumar of Bundi on May 11 last year was admitted to the children’s hospital in Kota with a breathing problem. The doctors there detected metal articles and polythene in her foodpipe. The doctors made extensive efforts to save the child through fibre optic endoscopic procedures to remove the metal objects, but the girl couldn’t be saved.
The doctors had alleged that it was a clear case of infanticide, since such a small baby couldn’t insert or swallow metal articles on her own. The local police did not registered a case against anyone.
The file was, however, not closed. Now after almost a year, the father, mother and grand mother of the child have been booked under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code on Wednesday.
