Indian Airlines (IA) passengers have to prepare for flight disruptions on Friday as the employees of the state-run airline are on strike demanding wage revision.
Meanwhile, the government has attempted to put in place a contingency plan for the day as civil aviation secretary Ashok Chawla reviewed alternative measures to face the strike called by the Air Corporation Employees Union of IA. Top officials of the IA and senior officials of the ministry attended the meeting. The employees decided to go ahead with the strike as the government rejected their demands on salary arrears.
It was decided that the IA and the ministry would make all possible efforts to lessen the inconvenience of the travelling public. The IA has a contingency plan which includes issuing travel advisory, asking people to travel light as well as report early for checking-in and setting up facilitation counters at the airport.
