Even as the deadline to pay compensation expired on Thursday, the victims in the Ridhi Sidhi Gluco Biols factory blast, are yet to avail any benefits from the factory authorities.
The disastrous blast that happened on May 4, is perhaps the biggest tragedy recorded in Belgaum district. A total of 15 workers were dead and 20 critically injured in the incident.
In a meeting attended by Ramesh Jarkiholi MLA and representatives of the factory held last week, it was decided to give a compensation of Rs 8 lakh to the blast victims before Thursday. But, neither the victims nor their families have got the compensation yet.
Two workers had died on the same day of the blast while 13 others succumbed to wounds at KLE Hospital. All the victims were poor labourers and most of them hailed from parts of Rajastan while some from parts of Belgaum district.
Death toll
Meanwhile, the death toll in the blast rose to 15 as another injured, identified as Mahesh Hukkeri (26), a resident of Gokak, in the blast succumbed to his wounds at KLE Hospital on Thursday.
