Born in 1966 in Toulouse (France), Jean-Marie Massaud graduated in 1990 from Les Ateliers, Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle (Paris).
His collaboration with Marc Berthier and his work on town planning gave him the will to melt design and architecture. He created the Studio Massaud with Daniel Pouzet in 2000 and widened his activity to architecture. His contextual approach focuses on the search of an essential where individuals are the centre of the debate.
Massaud consequently intervenes on different aspects of design: from industrial products to pieces of furniture. Awarded by numerous prizes, his creations belong to a collection of institutions such as Amsterdam, Chicago, London, Paris or Zurich’s design museum. He defined the architectural images of the Lancôme stores in Paris, New York and Hong Kong or Renault’s performance at international auto shows.
Next year his biggest architectural project so far will be finished – the 50,000 seater soccer stadium in Guadalajara (Mexico) named “Volcano”.After successful projects for famous companies such as Armani, Cacharel, Cassina, Cappelini oder Baccarat Jean-Marie Massaud now also works for Axor, the designer brand of Hansgrohe AG. Together with Axor (www.axor-design.com) Massaud developed his vision of the ideal bathroom in 2005 within the project “Axor WaterDream“. Now it has assumed shape in the collection of Axor Massaud.
