Deadly find for fish dealer in Hubli

Hayathsab Savanur, a fish seller of Ganeshpet in Hubli, had the ‘surprise’ of his life on Thursday when he came across a ‘unique’ fish — weighing 4 kg and two feet long. Of course, it wasn’t these stats that made his eye pop. The fish had sharp, spike-like bristles all over its body and couldn’t be touched with bare hands.  It was found among a stock of fish that had come from Malpe port in Dakshina Kannada. Savanur, who has been selling fish for more than two decades, had to call in some other ‘experts’ to decide that the fish was the ‘inflated porcupine’ -- one of the most dangerous varieties whose ‘sting’ contain venom that could kill 30 persons! Savanur has plans to preserve the skin of this fish after ‘chemical treatment’.
