146 buses to ply
The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will operate a total of 146 buses including 40 Volvos and 106 Suvarna and Parisara Vahini airport buses, to the Airport. These will ply 24/7.

As BMTC Managing Director Upendra Tripathy says, “The dedicated ‘Bangaluru International Airport Services’ (BIAS) Volvo services are designed to be operated on nine high potential rourtes selected after a thorough study/feedback from the public and in-house surveys”

The Vayu Vajra routes pass through areas of high concentration of IT firms, centres of commerce, finance and industry such as Electronic City, J P Nagar, Koramangala, Whitefield (ITPL), HAL Airport, Jeevanbheema Nagar, MCTC bus station on Mysore Road, Kempegowda bus station, Hebbal, Kendriya Vihar and Airport Trumpet junction.

BMTC is operating these premium services, keeping in mind the need of the airport commuter who will have luggage with him/her and designed the buses complete with luggage racks and a porter to assist passengers. These airport specific buses will operate in a suitable mix with frequency ranging from a maximum of 15 minutes to a minimum of 5 minutes, tailor made to suit airline arrival and departure schedule of BIA from various points in the City to the airport terminal complex.

Tariff fixed for these services promises to be modest in comparison to taxi and auto fare, if hired from outside.
Fares of Vayu Vajra begin at a minimum of Rs 80 for the shortest distance and goes up to Rs 200 based on km covered. Frequency will be 15 minutes in the mornings and half an hour between 12 am and 4 am for night flight operations.

Shuttle service
To provide bus connectivity to airport commuters between the trumpet interchange bus terminal, at the entrance to BIA to the airport terminal, BMTC is also operating a high comfort shuttle bus service.

Route 1: Hebbal to BIA: 27.3 km, Travel time takes 45 minutes with two stops at Kogilu Cross in Yelahanka and IAF station at Jalahalli, 16 buses.

Route 3: Jeevan Bima Nagar to BIA: 43.5 km, Travel time takes 1 hour and 50 minutes with 8 stops at Indiranagar, Taj Residency, The Oberoi, Taj West End, Le-Meridien, Grand Ashok, Windsor Manor, Hebbal and Kogilu Cross in Yelahanka, 18 buses

 Route 5: JP Nagar 6th phase to BIA: 47 km, Travel time takes 2 hours with 11 stops at Jayangar Bus Station, Shanthi Nagar Bus Station, Bangalore Club, Hotel Ramanashree, Hotel Woodlands, Hotel Le-Meridien, Grand Ashok, Windsor Manor, Mekhri Circle, Hebbal and Kogilu Cross, 20 buses

Route 6: Whitefield post office to BIA: 50 km, Travel time takes 2 hours with 6 stops at ITPL, K R Pura junction, Kalyan Nagar Bus Station, Hennur Junction, Hebbal and Kogilu Cross, 20 buses

Route 7: Koramangala to BIA: 51 km, Travel time takes 2 hours and 10 minutes with 15 stops enroute at Forum Mall, Shanthinagar Bus Station, Hotels Chancery Pavillion, Ramanashree, Woodlands, Bangalore Club, Bowring Club, Cantonment Railway Station, Ambedkar Bhavan, J C Nagar, Mekhri Circle, Hebbal and Kogilu Cross, 20 buses.

Dear Sir / Madam,
The article on Vayu Vajra is good, but Need information on details of the all the routes and exact stop locations. I am specifically interested in the Bus from Koramangala. Also I need information in respect of the date when I can book on line aand at what web site.
