Cartoon exhibition from May 19
The Indian Institute of Cartoonists is hosting an exhibition of cartoons by late cartoonist Maya Kamath from May 19 to 31. Maya Kamath was among a very few women cartoonists, who began her career from The Evening Herald in 1985. She was contributing to major national and state English dailies including Deccan Herald, The Indian Express, Times of India and The Asian Age. The exhibition will be held at the Indian Cartoon Gallery, No 1, Midford house, Midford Garden, Off M G Road, Bangalore. It will be inaugurated by Jnanapeeth awardee Girish Karnad on May 19 at 11.30 am.
BBMP officials suspended
BBMP Commissioner Dr S Subrahmanya on Saturday suspended two officials on charges of dereliction of duty. M Ramesh, second division revenue inspector and Yatiraj, first division revenue inspector, failed to take steps to remove banners and buntings which were illegally displayed in and around the Sankey Road. Fans of former minister D K Shivakumar had displayed 530 birthday banners without seeking permission. The commissioner had not implemented the directive. A show cause notice has been served on Assistant Revenue Officer (In-charge) Francis.
Hotel in Nimhans premises closed
The BBMP officials on Saturday locked a hotel in NIMHANS premises for not maintaining hygiene. The step was taken after the officials traced a cockroach in the food.
Free vaccination for dogs
KARUNA Animal Welfare Association of Karnataka and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department are conducting free Anti-Rabies Vaccination Camps for dogs. The venue will be Government Veterinary Hospital, Mysore Road, on May 18 ph 2670 1099 and KARUNA Animal Shelter Veterinary College Campus at Hebbal on May 19 - ph. 2341 1181, The camp will be from 9 am to 12.30 pm.
Pyramid meditation
Pyramid Spiritual Society Movement (PSSM) is embarking upon popularising pyramid meditation. The Movement’s Brahmarshi Patriji told reporters that meditating under pyramid makes it more effective. Patriji said pyramid is a symbol of harmony, stability, order and spirituality. PSSM is expecting at least 5,000 people this year.
