The district has achieved pass percentage of 63.26 in the second PUC exam results announced on Friday. Students from rural areas and those from Government colleges have come up with good performance in the district this year. Of the total 14,014 students who appeared for the exams in the district this year, 8,765 students have passed. With this, district stands at 6th position in the State.
In taluk wise result, Hosanagar stands 1st with 70.97 pass percentage. Tirthahalli 69.17 per cent, Soraba 66.79 per cent, Shimoga 66.17 per cent, Shikaripur 63.51 per cent while Bhadravati taluk has secured 63.26 per cent result.
Cent percent marks
Ramya K V, student from Government PU College in Sagar has topped the State by scoring 588 marks. Ramya has scored 100 in physics, chemistry, maths and computer science. Among the non-aided colleges in the district, Javalli Aurobindo PU College has secured 96.48 per cent result. In aided colleges section, DVS Composite PU College stands 1st with 84.27 percent result and Shiralakoppa Girls PU College has topped the list of Government colleges by securing 82.35 pass percentage.
Of 720 students who appeared for exam in Hosanagar taluk, 511 have passed, three achieved distinction, while 318 have cleared the exam with first class marks. In Tirthahalli taluk, 1,210 students appeared for the exam and 837 passed the same with 11 distinction and 423 first class. Of 77 students who appeared for exam in Sorab taluk, 519 students have passed with 272 first class.
In Shimoga taluk 5,271 students took exams among which 3,488 have cleared it. 206 students have recorded distinction in the taluk and 1,824 students have cleared the exam with first class marks. In Sagar taluk, 2,113 students appeared for the exam of which 1,379 have passed. 35 students have achieved distinction while 760 students have secured first class marks.
In Shikaripur taluk, 975 students wrote the exams out of which 590 have passed. Three students in the taluk have achieved distinction, while 310 have scored first class marks. Of 2,948 students who appeared for exams in Bhadravati taluk, 1,541 have passed.
