A 30-year-old woman reportedly committed suicide here on Friday, allegedly due to harassment from her husband.
According to police, the victim has been identified as Malnabi Abdul Rahim (30), a resident of Shahbazaar in the City. Police said, her husband reportedly consumed alcohol and used to harass her.
Unable to endure his harassment, Malnabi reportedly set herself on fire and committed suicide at her home.
A complaint has been lodged by the victim’s mother, Mehaboobi, at the Women Police Station here. The police have registered a case and are investigating.

Suicide
Two students reportedly attempted suicide in the City on Friday allegedly due to failure in the pre-university examinations, the results of which were declared on Thursday.
According to police, both the girls were 18 years old. The first girl, a resident of Basaveshwara Colony, reportedly consumed an over-dose of sleeping pills and tried to commit suicide. She has been admitted at the Basaveshwara Hospital and is recovering.
The second girl also tried to commit suicide by consuming poison at her home. She has been admitted at the District Government Hospital here.

Tension
Tension prevailed in Venkatapur village in Surpur taluk due to a clash between two groups, even as the police have imposed prohibitory orders in the village as a precautionary measure.
Police said, 11 persons were injured in this clash. The reason for the clash is said to be old enmity between the leaders of the Valmiki and Kuruba community in the village. However, no one has been arrested so far.
