'BJP trying to sow seeds of communalism in Ullal'
DH News Service, Mangalore:

Voters in Ullal constituency are in favour of the Congress, said Congress Spokesperson Harikrishna Bantwal.
Addressing a press meet here on Friday, he flayed D V Sadananda Gowda’s statement that Congress will be retiring from the active politics in the region after Ullal by election. He said BJP leaders are not aware of the history of Congress and added: “Congress will rise to power like ‘phoenix bird.”
He alleged that BJP has thrown ‘Hindutva card’ to woo the voters in the by-election. They are trying to sow the seeds of communalism in the region. The Hindu religion is being politicised to woo the voters.
Mr Bantwal also flayed the District-in-Charge Minister B Nagaraj Shetty’s statement that ‘Dharma yuddha’ will be held at Ullal.
He said “to organise Dharma yuddha, Ullal constituency is not a Kurukshethra. There are no “Kaurvas or Pandavas” in the region. It is not such a competition. It is a contest between the candidates of separate parties,” he clarified.
He said BJP should have learnt a lesson from the UP election. People have understood the concept of ‘Hindutva.’ There is a lot of difference between Hindutva of Congress and BJP.
Stating that JD (S) is an agent of BJP, Mr Bantwal said to divide the Muslim votes, JD (S) candidate is fielded in Ullal. But we are confident of Congress candidate U T Khader winning the election and added: “the plot of JD (S)-BJP will not work out in the Ullal by-election.”

Allegation
For levelling personal allegation against Congress candidate U T Khader, Mr Bantwal said BJP candidate Chandrashekar Ucchil was the Someshwar Gram Panchayat President between 2001-2003.
The audit report during the period states lot of misappropriation of funds and irregularities in the Rajiv Gandhi Drinking water scheme.
He also urged the BJP leaders to stop levelling allegations against Congress candidate.
Congress leaders M G Hegde and Kallige Tharanath Shetty were present.
