“Don’t compare Doordarshan with private channels. Social responsiblity is the main purpose behind all Doordarshan programmes,’ ’said Doordarshan Director Dr Mahesh Joshi.
Addressing a press meet in Chikmagalur on Thursday, he added that Doordarshan always encourages folk artists who are in dark and hereby it tries its level best to save local folk arts. He also informed that Doordarshan has made Rs 16 crores profit last year. Doordarshan has also been engaged itself in spreading culture and tradition of Karnataka to every nook and corner of the State.
Dr Joshi also said Chandana Utsava will be held in the first or second week of August. This Utsava is specially organised to support local arts and talents. Interested people can contact Doordarshan Kendra at J C Nagar in Bangalore.
