A forum of political parties, under the leadership of CPI (M), intensified its stir against the ongoing auctioning of recovered government land on Friday by launching an indefinite agitation against auctions. Protesters, stationed in front of the Bangalore Urban District Deputy Commissioner’s office, said they would stop the auction on Saturday that would signal the end of second phase of ongoing auctions.
Around 200 protesters gathered around the DC’s office and later staged a sit-in dharna against the auctions.
Mr Prakash, Secretary, CPI (M) Bangalore District Committee, said the party will ensure a complete halt to auctions. The Revenue Department is tipped to auction 111 acres of land in 12 survey numbers in Bangalore North Taluk on Saturday.
