It is going to be a cultural extravaganza on Sunday evening at Nayana auditorium in Banglore. Milanotsava, a new cassette of Prof K S Nisar Ahmed, who is a household name in Karnataka, will be released at the auditorium in the presence a galaxy of light music singers. Mr Arun Andrew and Dr Shamitha Malnad have composed music for the cassette and well-known singers have given voice to his songs.
Prof Nisar Ahmed is one who being a poet, created market for Kannada audio cassettes. He released Nityotsava, his first audio collection in 1978. Music maestro Mysore Ananthaswamy had composed the music for his songs. Even 29 years after its release the cassette has not lost its demand. The cassette gave an identity to the poet and even today, he is referred to as the ‘poet of Nityotsava.’
“In those days, there was no one to bring out the cassette of my poems. I invested money and succeeded in the venture. It received good response from the public. Even today there is a demand for the cassette. It is the first cassette for which Mysore Anathaswamy sang. The last cassette Sumadhura for which he sang was also mine. Milanotsava is my tenth cassette and I am curious to know public’s response to this,” he said.
Prof Nisar Ahmed’s recent eight poems have been included in the cassette. C Ashwath, Puttur Narasimha Naik, Sangeetha Katti, Rajesh Krishnan, Hemanth, Nanditha, Archana Udupa, Dr Shamitha Malnad and Ajey Warrior have sang for the cassette. Dr Shamitha, a dental surgeon by profession and a musician, is organising the function to release the cassette in a novel way.
Mr I M Vittalmurthy, Secretary to State government, Kannada and Culture department will release the cassette. Soon after the release, singers will sing the songs. Songs will be staged in dance form by dancers of Geethanjali troupe and physically challenged children of Margadarshi, an organisation working for physically challenged.
Prof Nisar Ahmed, Prof M H Krishnaiah, music director Dr Jayashree Aravind, Karnataka Sugama Sangeetha Parishat president Y K Muddukrishna, poet Jaraganahalli Shivashankar and film producer Ram Prasad will take part in the programme. Music and dance presentations will be punctuated by speeches of guests.
The programme will be held at 5.30 pm at Nayana Auditorium in Kannada Bhavan on JC Road.
