Cultural week
Rajini Kalakendra is organising a week long cultural programme from May 21 to May 27 in various venue across Bangalore. On May 21 (Light music by Ranjini and party), May22 (Bharatnatyam by Padmashree) and May 23 (Carnatic Vocal by students of Ranjini Kalakendra) will be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra, JC Road, Bangalore from 6 pm onwards.
Later on May 24 (Sitar Recital by V G Mahapurusha) will be held at the Indian Institute of World Culture,BP Wadia Road, Basavangudi, Bangalore and May 25 (Hindustani Music by Sanjog - disciples of Venkatesh Godkhindi) will be held in the Gayan Samaja, KR Road, Chamarajpet, Bangalore.
A live Concert by M Balamuralikrishna is also organised on May 27 at Dr Ambedkar Bhavan, Vasanthnagar, Bangalore.
This concert is on from 6 pm. Tickets will be available at the venue.
Chess and carom challenge
Here is a first- of- its- kind event. The Chrysallis Performance Arts Centre for the Challenged, Bangalore is organising The Chess and Carom Challenge. To be held on May 26 and 27, 2007, the event is a rare occasion which provides an opportunity to partner someone who is differently-abled and uniquely capable.
This event has been created with the specific intention of bringing together players with and without challenges.
There are many blind, deaf and orthopaedically challenged children and adults who play chess and many mentally challenged who are good carom players.
Approximately 96 players who come in from the challenged communities will be paired with players from the corporate community. This is part of the Chrysallis Power of One 33 city (state and union territory capitals) nationwide awareness campaign to integrate children with and without challenges.
All participants will receive certificates. Other awards are planned for the toppers. The Chess and Carom Challenge will be co-ordinated at two centers between 10 am and 12 pm.
The Chess Challenge with 32 teams will be held at the Rotary House, Opp. Coles Park, Frazer Town. The Carom Challenge with 64 teams will take place at Toshiba, 80 ft. Koramanagala. To participate, contact 9886112230/ 65739341.
