The sprawling Palace Grounds in Bangalore resounded with hymns of Soundarya Lahari as nearly 50,000 people recited the famous song of Adi Shankaracharya on Sunday evening.
Organised by Vendanta Bharati and Shankara Saraswathi Shankara Sandesha Sanchalana Samithi, people of all ages gathered and recited the song in unison in the presence of Bharathi Theertha Mahaswami of Sharadapeetham, Sringeri, Swaroopananda Saraswathi Mahaswami of Paschimamnaya Swaraka and Uttaramnaya Jothishpeetham, Badri, and Nischalananda Saraswathi Mahaswami of Poorvamnaya Goverdhanapeetham, Puri.
Arrangements
Organisers had made elaborate arrangements at the venue for the convenience of participants.
Huge screens were displayed on either side of the stage so that every one had a good view of swamijis.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswami of Sharadapeetham, Sringeri, called upon one and all to give respect to women.
