Koota Samaja Samsthegala Okkuta, a federation of Koota Samajas, which hail from 14 villages in Udupi district will be inaugurated in Bangalore on Saturday at Guru Narasimha Kalyana Mandir, on Basavanagudi Bull Temple Road at 5 pm.
The federation will be inaugurated by Pejawar mutt seer Vishweshatheertha swamiji. It has been formed with the objective of assisting poor and meritorious students and providing medical assistance to the needy.
Special cells planned
Special cells to enforce the pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994 will be set up in 13 districts in the State, according to Madan Gopal, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare.
Speaking on the sidelines of a talk on pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994 recently, he said the districts covered are: Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Mandya, Belgaum, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Ramnagar, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Bidar, Uttara Kannada, Gulbarga, Raichur and Bidar.

Mother Teresa awards presented
Bangalore, dhns: The International Integrity Peace and Friendship Society on the occasion of International Labour Day gave away awards on Thursday to achievers in various fields.
