Agriculture, Marketing & District-in-Charge Minister Sharanabasappagouda Darshnapur has stated that the State government had released Rs 10 crore towards taking up of developmental works in Gulbaraga.
Speaking after inaugurating the laying of cement concrete (CC) road works at a cost of Rs 1.75 lakh, near the Rudhrawadi Hospital in the P & T Colony in the City, the minister noted that the State government was laying more stress on the over-all development of the Cities in the State.
Towards this, Mr Darshnapur said, the district administration had prepared an action plan for Rs 10 crore, and had sent the proposal to the government some time ago.
Consequently, the government had allocated Rs 10 crore in this year’s budget to take up development works in Gulbarga City, and the same had already been released. He stated that this fund would be utilised to lay roads and drainage in the interiors areas of the City and to streamline the drinking water system in certain areas.
A high-level committee under Gulbarga Deputy Commissioner Pankajkumar Pandey, and Gulbarga Mahanagara Palike (GMP) Commissioner S P Mudhol had been constituted towards taking up these works. "Within a week, the committee will initiate the works in accordance to the action plan prepared earlier," he added.
Relief fund doubled
Mr Darshnapur said that the government had doubled the money being given to the beneficiaries under the ‘Raitha Sanjeevini Scheme,’ which was being implemented by the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committees (APMCs).
He stated that so far Rs 25,000 was given to the next of the kin of farmers who were killed in accidents while working. This has now been doubled to Rs 50,000, he added.
