Construct an image of India as an ‘Akhanda Bharata’, in the minds of Youth, said Seer of Sirigere Taralabalu Brihanmutt, Dr Shivamurty Shivacharya Swamiji.
He was speaking after inaugurating a district-level youth fest and inter-State cultural exchange programmes, organised jointly by the district administration, Youth Service and Sports Department, taluk panchayat and asavapattana grama panchayat, at Basavapattana village near Davangere.
The nation, which is mother of diverse culture, is unique in maintaining unity in diversity, said the seer. Stating that every citizen of this nation should feel India as united despite various divisive tendencies engaged in creating an image of the nation torn into pieces by caste, class and other such discriminatory practices prevailing in the society.
The seer said he has great faith in virtues of youth and felt that they only need proper guidance and orientation. Their dreams have tremendous power and their power of imagination and spirit should be channelised in proper direction, said the seer.
The seer also felt the need for change in the present education system, which teaches students only to learn fact through rote-learning. The students should be taught to think in new directions and they should not merely fed on facts. He called upon the teachers to give up notes-giving practice and asked them to inspire children take up innovative and creative thoughts and works.
