BJP day-dreaming of winning by-polls: Kharge
Mangalore, DH News Service:
Addressing a press meet here on Monday, he said Congress has been winning in Ullal constituency. BJP and CPI(M) have won in the constituency only once.

Coming down heavily on the Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa’s statement that Congress is ‘dejected,’ KPCC President Mallikarjuna Kharge said that BJP is ‘day dreaming’ of winning in the Ullal by-polls.
Addressing a press meet here on Monday, he said Congress has been winning in Ullal constituency. BJP and CPI(M) have won in the constituency only once. Voters are in favour of Congress in Ullal constituency.
He said Mr Yediyurappa’s allegations are far from reality.
‘Eyewash’
Mr Kharge said Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s village stay is an eye-wash. He never tries to understand the real problems of the villages, Mr Kharge said and added: “CM never reviewed the issues concerning the villages, district development nor the implementation of Karnataka Developmental Programmes. Though Chief Minister says that he is following Gandhi’s principles by staying in the villages, he never stays for more than 3 to 4 hours in a village,” he alleged.
He said out of 274 MLAs, more than 190 MLAs were elected from the rural areas. Have they not visited villages in their life. Are they not aware of problems of the villages, he asked. CM’s village stay is like a person who was born in foreign land trying to understand the village life, he said.
‘Transparent act’
He said that JD(S) has never won from the Ullal constituency. JD(S) has fielded its candidate to strengthen the BJP. This is the most transparent way of dividing the minority and secular votes.
Congress leaders Allam Veerabhadrappa, B L Shankar, former minister Ramanath Rai, District Congress President Blasius D’Souza, former ZP President Mamatha Gatti, MLA Abhayachandra Jain among others were present.
