Rohan, Raashid and Varun -a Hindu, Muslim and a Christian respectively- have studied together from their Kindergarten days at the Bishop Cotton Boys School. They have kept up their friendship over the years, despite the fact that they were sometimes in different divisions in class!
It reminds one of the Bollywood blockbuster movie - Amar, Akbar and Anthony, but it does not have any of the filmy type dialogues and intrigues! It is a simple and straight forward story of camaraderie, developed and continued over the years in school and which still continues to flourish.
Of course, one has to understand and realise that this could never have been so, if it had not been for their enlightened parents.
It was so wonderful to learn that the boys had been invited by Rohan's parents, to go to Kerala, to visit his grand parents ancestral home, once they had finished their ICSE exams. Without making any fuss the other two parents granted them permission to do so.
Thus, Raashid and Varun left by train for Trivandrum accompanied by Varun’s mother, who belongs to Karnataka and was going to Kochi to visit her sister.
The sister, in turn , brought the two boys who were traveling on to Trivandrum a ‘yummy’ packed lunch, when she came to meet Varun`s mother at Ernakulam station.
On arrival, they found that there was a planned itinerary for the five days of their stay.
They went to Kovalam, had fun on the beach, and visited other places of interest in and around Trivandrum. They went to an amusement park, did some curio shopping etc.
They claimed that they had a sort of adventure on their way back from Kovalam, when a reckless driver tried to overtake them on a narrow road.
On the last day, an aunt of Rohan`s had even organised a mini quiz competition and a basket ball game for them, with the other boys staying around their house. Both of which the trio claim they excelled in.
