Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday said the government would take measures to improve the facilities in government colleges to ensure that students who enrolled in these colleges got quality education.
After laying the foundation for the new annex of Sri Krishnarajendra Silver Jubilee Technical College here, he said the infrastructure upgradation programme would cover PU, polytechnics, engineering and first-grade colleges.
“Government colleges will be brought on a par with private colleges, so that students who cannot pay the high tuition fee in private colleges do not lose out,” he said.
The Chief Minister once again lashed out at officials, saying many educational programmes had suffered because of their carelessness.
“Officials should change their mindset and mode of approach or we’ll have to take steps to make them do so”, he said.
PWD Minister H D Revanna said the government had taken up projects worth Rs 800 crore in Bangalore alone for upgradation and setting up of new educational institutions.
Major and Medium Industries Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu reiterated that 20 lakh employment opportunities would be created in the next two to three years.
