Apart from Mukhosh, based at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, two other theatre groups of Kolkata - Sayak and Sundaram - will take part in the festival.
“An event supported by the Karnataka Nataka Academy, ‘Moitree’ is the festival of friendship. It will provide a forum for discussion and interaction between theatre enthusiasts of Kolkata and Bangalore with various offstage events during the festival at Ranga Shankara,” informed Mukhosh member, Anindita Bhadra on Wednesday.
One of the off-stage public events is a panel discussion in English on ‘Globalisation and the Indian regional theatre - a camouflaged threat?’, in which eminent theatre personalities like Samik Bandopadhyay and Sohag Sen from Kolkata and like K V Akshara and Jagdish Raja from Bangalore, will participate.
“Mukhosh Backstage”, a booklet to mark the occasion, will be released. The proceeds of ‘Moitree‘ will be donated to Sristi and India Sudar, NGOs working with underprivileged children and Mathru Foundation, working with paraplegic children in Bangalore. Tickets are priced at Rs 150 per show, and are available at Ranga Shankara and K C Das (Church Street and J P Nagar).
