Nomination open for E&Y’s award
Ernst & Young announced in New Delhi on Tuesday that nominations for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2007 were declared open on May 22, 2007. Winners will be selected by a distinguished panel of judges following an independent process of nomination and selection.
    Finalists from across India will be invited to a award function in November where winners will be felicitated. E&Y also announced that Tulsi Tanti, Chairman, Suzlon Energy and winner of the India Entrepreneur Of The Year award 2006, will be inducted into the prestigious Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Of the Year (WEOY) Academy on June 3 in Monte Carlo.

Bangalore Bio from June 7
The seventh edition of  India’s major biotech event Bangalore Bio 2007 is being held at Bangalore International Centre, 10th Mile Tumkur Road from June 7th. “Think BIG… Think Biotechnology, Think Innovation, Think Growth” is the focal theme at this year’s event. This was announced by the organisers on Tuesday in Bangalore.

Polaris ties up with Ementor 
Polaris Software Lab Limited and  Ementor  Denmark  A/S  have  announced in Chennai on Tuesday that they have entered  into a partnership agreement to  offer  joint-value  propositions  and  deliver  globally recognized IT solutions tailor-made to the Nordic market needs. 

Polaris, a  market  leader  in Specialty Application Development in the Financial  Services  sector,  views this strategic partnership as key to its  focus  in  fulfilling  the  increasing  opportunities in the Nordic market. Polaris  and  Ementor  Denmark  have  over  the  last 2 years built up a    successful   collaboration.   
 
HCL and nCore join hands
HCL Technologies, on Tuesday, announced an alliance with nCore, in developing joint technology to provide complete solution to customers in the embedded market space. The focus of the new technology offering by HCL and nCore will be on delivering highly usable applications as well as providing easy to use interface for the development of embedded software.

Iffco-Tokio, Assist America tie-up
Iffco-Tokio General Insurance on Tuesday in Mumbai said it has selected Assist America Medical Emergency Services (India) to offer travel emergency assistance services to policy holders in India. The association between the two companies connects individual Medishield policy holders with an array of emergency medical services when they are travelling within India more than 150 km from their home.

ABB India wins Rs 289 cr order
ABB India announced in Bangalore on Tuesday that it has been awarded an order worth Rupees 289 crores by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (DMRC). As part of this project, ABB will supply the turnkey electrification package for Phase II of the Metro line spanning ten corridors across parts of New Delhi and surrounding areas of Gurgaon and NOIDA. The extensive project is expected to be completed by early 2010.

SyndBank may    issue new equity   
Syndicate Bank has proposed on Tuesday in New Delhi to tap the capital market with follow on public offer of 8 crore shares during the year to meet Basel II requirement and expansion plans. According to PTI, the bank would use the proceeds to meet the capital requirements under Basel II guidelines as the bank has the overseas presence. Besides, it would also be utilised for the expansion activity. According to the RBI’s guideline, banks with overseas branch are expected to comply with Basel II guidelines for operational risk by the end of March 2008. Considering the current trading price the bank is likely to raise about Rs 650 crore from the market. 

Calsoft’s 51 pc stake in Aspire
California Software (Calsoft) announced in Bangalore on Tuesday the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to acquire 51 per cent equity in Aspire Communications. This acquisition will help Calsoft provide end-to-end solutions in the outsourced product development. The process is expected to culminate by July ‘07 and is to be a combination of cash and stock deal, said Calsoft.

Omaxe to mop up Rs 1,400 cr
Omaxe Ltd on Tuesday in New Delhi recieved market regulator SEBI’s approval for its IPO, estimated to raise up to Rs 1,400 crore from the capital market, a company spokesperson confirmed receiving SEBI’s nod for the public issue. Omaxe had filed the Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with the SEBI in December last year.  
Tripp Lite’s new PowerVerter
Tripp Lite, announced on Tuesday the launch of the APS PowerVerter DC-to-AC Inverter/Battery in India. These Alternative Power Supplies (APS) are practical solutions for all backup applications requiring 750 watts to 3600 watts of power. Salient features are: offering maximum power, small size, minimum battery configuration and overload protection for equipments. 

Avent ties up for tech seminars
Avnet Electronics Marketing announced in Bangalore on Tuesday that it has partnered with Xilinx, and other leading players in the semiconductor industry to roll out its X-Fest global series of technical seminars across Asia. Following its success abroad, X-Fest arrived in Delhi, India on 8th May, Bangalore on 22 May, and in Chennai on May 24. The one-day seminars offers several 90-minute training courses for attendees to choose from, designed to provide specialised training on design solutions for FPGA circuitry and related components.
