A proposal of Rs 50 crore has been submitted to the State Government for upgrading Agumbe ghat road in the taluk, informed MLA Araga Jnanendra.
Briefing media persons in the town he said that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and DyCM B S Yediyurappa have responded positively for the proposal. The state Government has provided Rs 15 crore grant for undertaking development works in the taluk this year.
Priority will be accorded for works related to upgradation of roads and bridges in the taluk. 97.4 km stretch road has been upgraded by Zilla Panchayat Engineering division and the road has been handed over to Public Works Department for maintenance, he stated.
Slating out other development works undertaken in the taluk he informed that tenders have been floated for construction of bridges across river Malati near Changaru and across river Tunga near Heddur-Malur.
Cost of these projects is estimated at Rs 2 crore and Rs 3 crore respectively. Link road connecting Humchadakatte to Kaarakodlu, Malalimakki, Santehakkalu, Honnasugadde, Tirthahalli-Hodala, Guddekoppa road have been upgraded.
Rs One crore will be provided for upgrading Kattehakkalu-Ganapatikatte-Tumbramane-Makkimane-Kabase-Kiranakere road, he informed.
Irrigation
Priority has been accorded for lift and minor irrigation projects in the taluk. Rs 2.93 crore will be provided for lift irrigation project near Hosahalli village. Also lift irrigation projects will come up at Komane, Honnetalu, Kunda, Heddur, Beguvalli, Tirthamuttur and at Kasaravalli village, he revealed.
Govt first grade college will begin functioning in the town from this academic year. Tentatively the college will begin function from Morarji Desai residential school. Later own building will be provided for the colleg.
