Teachers of the Morarji school stormed the Zilla Panchayat offices and also staged a rasta roko in the city. They were protesting against the against the Zilla Panchayat’s counselling session that was instead interviews with the students.
They said that the officials conducted long interviews with the students. The students also complained that this delayed the process. This was unacceptable after the press note categorically stated that this was going to be a counselling session.
They also demanded that that the services of those teachers nominated during the last year be continued and new teachers be nominated to vacancies.
They also complained that services of old teachers were being terminated and new teachers were being employed in their posts. “Many of the teaching staff have suffered because of this injustice” said the protesters.
They also alleged that the newly appointed teachers did not receive any training and did not even get their salaries for two months.
“The cut off percentage for the counselling session was 60% but students who have scored lesser than that were also allowed to attend the counselling and none of the concerned officials are giving out information about this. This has created a confusion among the students” they added.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Office V RangaSwamy said 1 year service of the teachers served in Government High Schools and 6 months of service who served in private instituions will be considered during the interview. Police then rushed to the spot and took charge of the situation.
