The statement made by State Congress chief during Ullal election campaign that JD(S) has fielded its candidate to help the BJP candidate win is far from truth, said Karnataka Wakf Council member and JD(S) State General Secretary B Mohammed Kunhi.
Speaking at a press meet held on Tuesday, he said there is much infighting in the Congress which in fact may help the BJP. Certain Congress party leaders themselves are trying to ensure that their candidate U T Khader looses the election, he alleged. Mr Kharge must take back his words, Mr Kunhi demanded and added that the Congress has failed to even appoint district president and other posts. Hence, Mr Kharge should concentrate on setting right these internal problems, he stated.
The State government has implemented various development projects for minorities, stayed in villages to understand problems faced by them, provided funds to mosques through Wakf Board and implemented projects through Wakf Council which will ensure victory for JD(S), he said.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy is likely to campaign for Ullal bt-polls on May 27 and 28 while JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda is likely to tour the constituency on May 28 and 29. Minister for Home M P Prakash, Minister for Labour and Minority Development Iqbal Ansari, Pariamentary Affairs Minister Mirajuddin Patel, MLAs Azim, Y S Dutta, Zameer Ahmed and other leasders will paricipate in campaigning, he added. JD(S) City President Aslam and JD(S) Youth wing Secretary Ibrahim Golikatte were present in the press meet.
