With Deputy CM B S Yediyurappa’s day-long trip around Ullal constituency on Tuesday, the BJP’s electioneering for by-polls has been geared up.
Recapitulating the party’s earlier announcements, Mr Yediyurappa said BJP did not have any plans of “roaring” campaigns in the constituency, rather it was implementing its idea of meeting voters personally.
“It is not even door-to-door campaign. We are meeting each voter individually and listening to his opinions,” he said, just before kicking off the day-long campaign at Someshwar. Later in a press conference in the evening, Mr Yediyurappa said for the first time in his political career he had witnessed great enthusiasm among the voters to lead the Bharatiya Janata Party towards victory in a most talked about constituency.
“I took part in 22 different meetings of party workers and public in a single day,” he stated.
Earlier in the morning, he, accompanied by MLAs N Yogish Bhat, Krishna J Palemar, MLC Shobha Karandlaje, BJP district chief Monappa Bhandary, BJP Ullal Assembly candidate Balakrishna Ucchil, Zilla Panchayat President Sushma Janardhan, visited Sri Somanatha Temple and Bhagavathi Temple and had breakfast in the house of Mr Raveendra Maroli.
Meanwhile, Congress and JD(S) have continued their strategies of reaching out the common voters as per their previous plans.
SP to back CPI(M)
In another development, Samajwady Party has expressed its support to CPI(M) in the Ullal by-polls. As an indication for this promise, Samajwadi Party leaders Mr Raju and Mr Chengappa were present in the public meeting organised by CP(M) at Thokkottu on Tuesday.
