States To Get 50 pc Of Net Expenses
New Delhi, May 22.
The Deputy Minister for Planning, Mr S N Mishra, informed the Lok Sabha today that the Government of India would be prepared to meet 50 per cent of the net expenses incurred by a state on its programme for consolidation of land holdings, subject to an overall maximum expenditure of 25 per cent of the gross expenditure.
US Not For Another East-West Meet
Washington, May 22.
The US State Department said yesterday that the US was not giving any consideration at present to another “summit” meeting between the West and the Soviet Union.
A spokesman, Mr Joseph Bran, was responding to queries about press reports in Europe about the summit.

UK Troops Secure Bridgehead
London, May 22.
Some 2,500 British troops bolstered their bridgehead on the Falkland Island today only 80 km from the main 1,500 strong Argentine troop concentration. But they braced for a major counter-attack, intelligence sources said. Earlier, in the first announcement of casualties from Friday’s assault on the occupied Archipelago, the defence ministry reported three British servicemen killed, two missing and 27 wounded.
