Rushmi, Ankita advance
Mumbai, pti:

Top seed Rushmi Chakravarthi and second seed Ankita Bhambri recorded fairly comfortable victories to launch their campaign on a bright note in the singles section of the USD 10,000 ITF Women’s Circuit Tennis Tournament here on Tuesday.
Rushmi was hardly troubled by wild card entrant Sagarika Phadke as she secured an easy 6-3, 6-1 win in her opening round match.
Equally convincing in her performance was Ankita, who accounted for the unseeded Parul Goswami in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
Meanwhile, the second day of the tournament also witnessed few surprise results as fifth seed Sanaa Bhambri and Italian Nicole Clerico, the eight seed made premature exits.
Left-handed Isha Lakhani produced an impressive display to fashion a convincing 6-0, 6-3 win over Bhambri to set-up a clash against Geeta Manohar in the next round.
Manohar beat Ragini Vimal 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 while Switzerland’s Nicole Riner ousted Clerico 7-5, 7-5.
