Chikka stays ahead
DH News Service, Bangalore:

Local lad Chikkarangappa clung to the top position with a level-par 72 on the second day of the IGU-categorised Eagleton Junior and Sub-Junior golf championship at the Eagleton Golf Resort here on Wednesday.
The Bangalore boy, with a two-day tally of four-under-par 140, holds a wafer-thin two-shot lead over Jaipur’s Amanjyot Singh, who shot the day’s best of two-under-par 70 in Category A (15-17 years).
A tenth tee starter, Singh put behind the initial setback of a bogey-bogey start with birdies on the 15th, 17th, fourth and eighth holes and maintained his second position at two-under-par 142.

Penalty drop

Overnight leader Chikkarangappa, who too started from the 10th tee, paid dearly for finding the trees on the sixth hole. He took a penalty drop and eventually had to settle for a double bogey seven.
Pritham Haridas, who was tied second with Amanjyot after the first round, shared the third spot with Rommel Majumdar on five-over-par 149.
Chikkarangappa holds a nine-stroke lead in Category B (13-14 years). Rommel Majumdar is second on 149.
In Category C, Bangalore boy Rahul Ravi (155) maintained his lead.
Akash Srinivasan was second with a two-day score of 162.
In the 54-hole Category D (under-10), which began on Wednesday, Delhi’s Piyush Sangwan and Kolkata’s Veeraj Madappa shared the top spot (81).
