Bangalore: Dressed in traditional attire, 35 students from Mizoram who are on a National Integration Tour to South India met Governor T N Chaturvedi on Wednesday. The 21-day tour has been sponsored by the Director General of Assam Rifles-Military Civic Action Project.
The Governor asked the students to visit a few educational institutions in the city and be informed of the educational opportunities in the State in the future.
The Governor, speaking to the media after the interaction, commended such efforts and said more such tours should be organised.
The students should also be enabled to stay with families and become aware of the opportunities available- which can truly contribute to national integration, as their sense of isolation or separateness will disappear, he said.
The students’ itinerary includes a range of activities planned at the Madras Engineering Group and Centre, visiting Aircrafts Systems and Testing Establishment and Training Command Air Force, and a reception hosted at the Catholic Club where MP Sangliana will be the Chief Guest.
Lalruatsangi, a Class IX student, from Lunglei District said it has been a wonderful experience and she would like to come and study here. While Laltanpuia, a I yr BA Student, pointed out that Mizoram needed a lot of infrastructure development which he realised after visiting cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore.
The students have visited Guwahati, Hyderabad and Chennai before their stopover in Bangalore for two-and-a-half days.
They will proceed to Kolkata, Shillong and back to Aizwal.
