Altair’s Centre of Excellence
Altair Engineering, announced its launch of Design Optimisation – Centre of Excellence (DO-COE) in collaboration with Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) to jointly promote design simulation technology. The collaboration emphasises setting up Centre of Excellence for Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) based Design Optimisation and sponsorship of Altair’s HyperWorks Software (suite of products) for UniKL. The joint collaboration supported by Mekarprise Sdn. Bhd. (Altair’s local Malaysia-based partner) will be effective for 5 yrs.

Gokaldas PAT up by 15.7pc
Gokaldas Exports has become the first ever Indian apparel company to cross the Rs 1000 crore revenue mark. The company’s consolidated revenues for FY07 climbed 16.5 per cent year on year to Rs 1044 crore from Rs 897 crore last year. Consolidated PAT for the year rose 15.7 per cent YoY, to Rs 70.53 crore from Rs 60.97 crore last year. For the quarter ended March 31, 2007, PAT climbed 20.69 per cent quarter on quarter to Rs 18.15 crore from Rs 15.03 crore last quarter. Revenues were up 14.9 per cent QoQ, to Rs 276 crore from Rs 240 crore last quarter.
BPCL net profit jumps 300 pc
Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) on Thursday announced in Mumbai a 298 per cent rise in the consolidated net profit to Rs 2139.5 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007 from the previous year’s figure of Rs 537.3 crore. BPCL said its total income (net of excise) has increased from Rs 77,915.5 crore in previous year to Rs 98,871.1 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007.
Cisco’s alliance with RSA
Cisco and RSA, the security division of EMC announced in Bangalore on Thursday that they are working together to develop technology that will help customers improve and simplify the encryption of confidential information – such as medical records, social security and credit card numbers. This will help customers encrypt data-at-rest on tapes and other storage media.
TCS honoured by US University
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced on Wednesday in California that it has received the first annual Distinguished Corporate Partner award from the Bourns College of Engineering at The University of California, Riverside. The award recognises TCS’ support to advance technology, research and service to the University and community.
