Bangalore City witnessed five suicides on Thursday. Four bodies were found on the railway track, while a BSc anaesthesia student committed suicide by injecting overdose of anaesthesia.
Three of a family Ramaiah (55), a mason and his second wife Gayatri (35) and her 10-year-old daughter Lavanya from Narayanpura slum near Doorvaninagar in K R Puram limits jumped in front of a running train. All the three bodes were found crushed within a few metres distance between K R Puram and diesel shed railway lane. Police said, after Ramaiah had started living with Gayatri, who was deserted by her husband. For the past few years he gave all the love and affection to her daughter Lavanya. Since he was already married with grown-up children and grand daughters, his first wife and children were pestering him to return.
Many a times, on the same issue, the family had lodged complaints with Mahadevapura police station. In turn, the police had called both the parties and advised them. But Ramaiah had refused to severe ties with Gayatri and stopped visiting his first wife’s house. Three days ago he called up and told his sons not to look for him and that he was doing fine. But they were shocked to hear the news in the early hours of Thursday.
In another incident, Subramani (40) committed suicide by putting his head in front of a running train on the Yeshwanthpur-Salem route in K G Halli limits.
