The All-India Students’ Federation (AISF) has demanded an inquiry into the affairs of the BCM (Backward Classes/Minorities) Tailoring Centre for girls at Jewargi.
Making this demand at a media conference here, AISF district President Mallikarjun Hangargi added that Shantagouda Halgadla, the supervisor of the tailoring centre since the 11 years should be suspended immediately.
“The BCM Department distributes sewing machines to all girls who complete their training course at the Centre. However, for the last four years, Mr Halgadla has not distributed a single one to those who completed the course,” he alleged.
Hangargi also claimed that the admission list of the the year 2006-07 has additional names which were not present earlier.
The supervisor has also misused the stipend which is supposed to be paid to the students at the Centre.
The other allegations against the supervisor were that he does not provide the required material during the training and harasses some students and slaps a fine of Rs 10 for being absent. Added to this, a few of his ‘favourites’ get the best of treatment, alleged Hangargi. He pointed out that only two meters of cloth was being provided to the girls for the whole year to learn tailoring.
But providing a contrary image to his higher officials.
Funds swindled
Stating that the centre received nearly Rs one lakh from the government, he said that a lot of money had been swindled by the supervisor.
He charged that the taluk executive officer, and the district BCM officer were also involved in this.
Thereby, he demanded a detailed inquiry into the affairs of this training centre, and also the suspension of the supervisor.
