Microsoft India organised an initiative to enhance the employees' work-life balance and to enthuse GenNext with excitement about innovation and technology with the ‘Bring Your Child to Work’ day. Kids ranging from the age of three years to 17 years visited their parent's at work to get an idea of their workplace and enjoy the fun-filled activities organised for them. The younger children kept themselves busy with drawing, painting, making masks, among others while the older children had quiz, extempore, JAM sessions and an experience of the XBox.
As stated in the press release, Joji Gill, HR Director, India, explains the idea behind the initiative, “This initiative is a window to help our extended MS families get a peek into the lives of our employees — their parents. The other part of the motivation stems from the fact that children, as the harbingers and users of tomorrow's innovation, have always been important to Microsoft.”
The others HR initiatives introduced include providing employees flexibility by giving wireless cards and broadband connectivity as well as conferencing and live meeting facilities to be able to work out of home; leave policies that allow nominal carry forward to ensure that leave is availed; and policies like flexi-time and working out of home.
